hi what kind of battery should i use for a 327 small block?i was thinking of using odyssey or holley? dont know what battery is good enough and will last?

Hi its not about which brand so much these days. Get one with 2yrs warrantee if you worrie but it more about cranking amps that is really the amount of power that it holds. Get one with 600 or 650 cranking amps as it will crank you v8 a lot longer than a |

i actually got one....its a champion extra heavy duty battery..460cca with 85min for $85.... i think the 460 is enough power. what do you guys think?

A problem with the chev is the long power cable from batt to starter, that has to pass the motor at some stage either way you go (unless you move batt to RHS).
when the cable gets hot, it offers alot of resistance.

i can sell you one... the 800s red top battery is 800 CCa and will set you back around $350 i just put one in my HQ (350 chev) 2 months ago. i started it up yesterday and it ticked over like i had started it up 5mins b4....they are a dry cell batter Edited by user Friday, 17 August 2007 2:55:14 AM(UTC)
