Hi mate. Ute and van doors are different to sedan and wagon doors.
The the back doors on wagons are different to sedans.

All EJ and EH front doors are the same, except the holes for the stainless steel trims, and in the case of drivers door, no door lock hole for commercial models.

Wagon rear doors are different to sedan.

I know FE-FC Holden front doors are different

Please excuse my ignorance but why is it only the commercial vehicles that don't have the drivers side door lock?

Its not only commercials. ALL Holdens up until 1954 (Including early FJ Specials had no RH door lock barrel. From then until the end of HR production all standard sedans, standard wagons, business sedans, as well as utes & vans had no

The unlocking from curbside and sliding across is the one I have come to understand. Plus the few pence or shilling less it would cost to manufacture?

I have an EH sales Brochure, showing a guy opening the passenger door for a female passenger on a gundagai grey EH ute. perhaps it was an etiquette thing?

Thanks guys. I have been watching the same topic on another forum and one of the answers was that it was something that had stuck from the "Chev" heritage of our Holdens. ie LH drive.

I stuggle to believe that one though.

Maybe it was to see if the female would unlock the door for the guy. Any girl that gets a ride in my old cars is watched very closely to see if the reach across the seat for the drivers side lock.

If they dont, they are not worth they hassle.

that doesn't make sense, because all other models had drivers locks, hence the mystery..
