FJ do not have a VIN they do have a sequence/chassis number. It can be either on a plate on the front subframe, driver's side, or it can be on a plate on the passenger side door pillar.
The location depends on when the car was built.

Thanks Warren, I’ve looked in all the usual places but can’t find anywhere on the body. Im in procession of the ali plate off the fire wall but cant make any reference to the numbers on it.

If it was on the pillar it might have been removed as it was held in place with two screws.
The "ali" plate has nothing to do with the chassis number that the motor registry want.
