hi, new to forum but long time holden lover

my current holden is a barbados green ( according to build plate ) 1974 HQ stylside ute. it is in quite good nick, with a 253, trimatic and 10 bolt. it has a bench seat from a sedan and column selector. it has a colour coded sun visor and i replace the hotwire mags with a nice set of standard wheels and hubcaps. stock rocks !!!

i bought it on ebay. it was a blokes half finished project. all of the body was done with new steel in the rear lower guards and a bit of a repaint. i spent a lot of time sorting our lights, indicators, horn, washers, brakes etc, and little johnny howard kicked in with an IMPCO lpg system. now it is my daily driver

over the next few months, i would like to repower it. undecided between a 308 or 350, manual or auto, so i hope you all dont mind lots of questions. there sure looks like lots of very able contributors to this site. i've already learned heaps whilst lurking here for the last couple of weeks

thanx for letting me rave, talk soon Q'ers

Firstly, check the chassis for cracks. Around the welds on the top shock mounts at the front. Also adjacent to the rearmost welds on the rear mounts for the lower control arms. If they're not cracked put some WB bars on. If they are cracked get them fixed

If we all had the same (good) taste, who would buy all the Fords?
