Hello all!
Wondering if any of you may be able to help. I am in the process of restoring an 1971 XW Falcon 500 Wagon and was recently given a Cleveland V8 as a gift for my birthday.
I am unsure if the motor is a 351 or a 302 and have been unable to decifer the block numbers with info i have found on the net.
I beleive the motor has come from a 1977 XC but not overly sure as the coding is a little confusing given the lack of information so i am really making an assumption.
The stamped number reads JG35TD 65533K and the block number reads D2AE CA0 there is also another number directly below which reads 7G5.
Cheers
Lucy

Hello Lucy, The easiest way to tell whether you have a 302 or 351 is by pulling out one of your spark plugs (or all if you want it easier to turn). Have someone feed a bit of coat hanger type wire straight down the hole onto the piston whilst you turn |

Yep XC Fairmont wagon your motor is out of. As Jim says put some wire down the spark plug hole or take the sump off and have a look at the crank. The crank will have either 351 or 302 stamped into it. Might pay to rip the sump off and have a look at th

yeah, the 302 doesn't have 4V heads. Some 302s have a 4 barrel carby, which is where the misunderstanding comes from. 4 venturies is 4V on some 302 compliance plates.
