Hi all,

Could anybody tell me how much hood clearance there is in a HQ?? From engine mounts to bonnet.

I have a HQ coupe and am building a 327 chev for it.

Need to fit engine mounts, block, AFR 195cc heads, Super Victor (Eldebrock) Manifold, Holley 750 carbie (with hopefully a 1" spacer) and air cleaner.

Cutting the bonnet is NOT an option..!!

Any advice is much appreciated..!! THANKS :)

In terms of fitting under bonnet, the big thing to watch is the height of the manifold, carb and air cleaner combo.

I had a 400 chev in a ute, with holley single plane & 600 vac sec, and had to run a drop base filter to fit the 3" K&N. Changed to low

I am pretty sure there are two types of HQ bonnets, an early type that is fully ribbed on the underside.....and a later type that has modified ribs giving more clearance. Might be worth looking into.
