I run a good 80w/90w oil, if you do heavy towing then 80w/140w or something about that viscoity. The big trick is change often and to your suprise the oil will come out just as clean as when you put it in. change it 12-18months.

Hi I have an HX 308 Monaro with an M21 gearbox. I replaced the oil with a Valvoline 80/90 and put a tube of nulon in it. Much smoother now, I can now shift into second quite easily when cold!

If you have trouble shifting gears with 80/90 when the car is cold try Mobilube 424 it works real well.

I ran Castrol GTX motor oil in mine for a couple of years. Warm 308, plus towing 1.5 ton trailer. Never had a problem. Shifted great too. Was all OK when I sold the car.
