Just wondering about the possibility of fitting a Commodore differential into our Hot Rod, we are firstly going to use a Holden 253 why I here you ask well we bought a fully rebuilt 253 suitable to run on straight gas for $300 this gal was broke and no it wasnt stolen we also checked on this, later when we have gained V8 experience maybe fit either a 308 or 350.
Now would there be one V8 Commodore differential with disc brakes that would cover this range of engines.
We have installed VP Commodore disc brakes on the front end of the HT subframe and had previously been researching the availability of blank VP rotors and having them drilled to suit a ford rear end.
Now am wondering about the option of fitting the Commodore rear end so to keep all the running gear Holden.
What would one expect to pay for a good secondhand V8 Commodore differential and are there any models that were better than others.

What ratio do you want? LSD? What track width?
If you want a really late model one you could use a VY or VZ 1-tonner/crewman axle, come in 3.08:1 (auto) or 3.46:1 (manual and Cross6/8). Plus they are already made for leaf springs meaning if you haven't s

Hi Byron.

VR/VS sedan rear axle assemblies are wider than VN/VP sedan & VN to VS wagon & ute.

Fred, in your post about getting blank VP rotors you stated that using a Commodore rear end was not an acceptable option because you already had the Falcon rear end fitted and its brakes were superior to the Commodores. Now you have changed your mind?

Yes Jim you are right when we bought the project the rear springs and ford diff with discs are already setup, which diff is unknow but it is the ford stud pattern.
Before we decide on which differential to use I want to cover all the options available t
