What would be the best way to seperate the rubber mould from the stainless backing/body on some WB Statesman body moulds. I have managed to get some moulds for my Statesman that are not split but the bodies are average where mine are good. I thought I could simply peel the rubber off and glue it to my body but I cannot even get the rubber to lift and the more I try to seperate the rubber using a screw driver or knife the more it seems like I am going to stuff it. Is there some sort of procedure or somthing that I can do, like soak it in something or heat it up slightly to try and soften the glue. I will try anything so I do not wreck the rubber. All advice will be greatly appreciated.Cheers Lee

Try that stuff plumbers use to join plastic pipe, the red solvent not the blue or green glue. I forget the name. You can get it in clear as well so it won't stain.

I think the primer you refer to is basically dyed methylated spirits, ie 99% ethanol.

Nah it's definitely not metho, it's ketatone or something like that. Metho won't melt the plastic on the pipes.

All jokes aside, it was a serious attempt to solve your problem. I don't know if this will work but it's worth a try.

MEK (MethylEthylKetone or whatever) is a dangerous substance and has a swag of OH&S issues surrounding it, so I don't know how readily available it would be to the consumer.

Methylethylketone Peroxide (MEKP) is used in fiberglassing, and is readily available.
Just take the blond bit out and you should be right :-)

If using MEK you will be right if you wear nitrile chemical gloves (safety shop or good hardware - usually the gloves are blue or green) safety googles and do it out in the open to avoid getting the fumes. the cooler the day the better. If yo

Don't know about it being all that dangerous every hardware shop has it and every plumber uses it, and the US health and safety people did not think it was obviously dangerous (try Google) but to get the rubber strips off try lifting a corner and dabbing
