OK this may sound a little complicated so here goes:12 months ago My mate Nigel bought a VN with a 174,000 on the clock, city car, no tow bar, now the car ran fine didnt miss a beat, drove the 300ks home and ran ok for the three month of ACT rego that was on it. Now it gets a little interesting, Nigel is a bit of a fuddy duddy and instead of just putting it through a blue slip he had to fiddle and spend another $2000+ on $1400 car, now Nigel is the world greates mechanic it took him 2 days to change the filter and oil on the box (so the car sat up on car ramps in the middle of the yard with out a pan on it for two days) and he even left a spanner on the crank that bent up all the tranny lines. So having said that..... the auto is now playing up, according to Nigel it must have had Nulon in it, I doubt it. So the box is slipping and shuddering, slipage is in 3&4th gear (apparently) and shudder is on take off, so what problems did the TH700 have? Do they need band adjustment or is that old school? Does the "crimped" up tranny pipes affect the box? Im open to all discussion on this topic as I would like to know more in regards to the TH700 problems and inprovements as they progressed from the VN. Ow and remember Nigels last car was a 4 cylinder sunbird that he bought from new so have mercy on him.

No comments on this? The reason I asked is you see a lot of commodores up for sale with a stuffed tranny in them, just thought there may have been a reason.

you must fix those tranny lines I am no trans expert, however about 15 years ago i put two "plugs" instead of trans lines on the trans (i just wanted to start it after engine / trans transplant) it took me hours to figure out why it didnt start, i cou |

you need to check the tranny runing, car in park and check it hot. motor must be going my be low on oil. sum ppl just pay sum to fix thangs.

You see plenty being offered for sale with a stuffed trans, as the quotes for a full reco can range from $700 up to $3000. Most people don;t want to pay more than the car is worth, nor do they seek a 2nd opinion.....

OK guys let take this a little further, lines will be replace, now where are the numbers on the gearbox that need to be compaired to see if the two boxes are the same and if they are different boxes can the computer be changed as well to make the other ge |

its a white sticker with Black numbers / letters, up toward the back of the engine block, on the gearbox.

Do the numbers have to be completely the same all the way through as the first part is the same number/letter but the second set is different. IE the 2hdd same rest different.

hows it goin The I.D stickers always come off or fade but there is the I.D number stamped on the right rear side of the pan rail on case.Probably be a 9HDM saves many troubles by fitting the correct calibration auto.Can fit different calibration but m
