OK folks,
What cam manufacturer to go for, or what to avoid ? Personal accounts OK, Crow, Crane, Heatseeker etc etc.

The cam manufacturer isnt so important....so long as its a standard cam for street use. The holden motors are way too over square.

I have a mild waggott cam goes well between 3000 - 6000 in a 308 Monaro.

Mine is a stage one speed pro cam......works very good on gas.....but doesn't make any real power as you would suspect.As for above saying his cam makes good power between 3 and 6,000....what a waste of fuel....let alone the green house gases.....some of

What Im trying to say mate is that the cam does not really come on until 3000 rpm, below that not much happens. My car is mild and not wild by any stretch of the imagination. When we tested the set up it was still pulling quite well at 5500 and my engin

your gearbox and diff are extremely important in the selection of cam. well, everthing should be considered. if you go past STG 3, it will cost ya big bucks$$$ choose a cam with the powerband range that still works at 100Km/h is always good. i.e 3000 |

I am currelty lookin at the CROW 5631 with upgraded hardened seated cast heads.
As for the 2.78, at 100kmh I can tell u mine does 2000rpm !! I wonder what speed the 253 would be doing at 3000-4000...prob orbit !

The 253 is doing 2400 at 100kms, I would be lucky to rev it past 3500 in normal every day driving. I recently had a ride in A VT 5.7 SS not gas with four of us in it driving up melbournes dandenong ranges it never went over 2500....quite torquey.
