Swap 186 with 202 black efi motor - headers fit?

Hi guys, Question which someone may know the answer to... Considering replacing the 186 in my EJ with a 202 Black I am thinking about buying. Weighing up the various costs associated with the changeover, and curious whether (1)the extractors I have on my a 186 bolt up to the 202 long motor'. The long has me worried... and (2) WOuld the engine mount points be the same? To be honest, I have no idea whether the 'long' bit refers to the stroke or engine length! Any insight appreciated! They wont fit easily...if they are ported heavily and pushed into position you can get them to fit...but they can leak because they dont sit naturally in the correct position...I have done it but would never do it again.

Haha I now see my long motor question as rather amusing! :S We learn....
Thanks so much for the info on the headers FastEH. Just working what it will cost me all up to change over (a lot I know!) Great to hear the engine mounts wont need rewelding at

Headers wont interchange between red and black sixs. The other issue that you will run into is that legally if you put a black engine in then your car will have to comply with 1984/85 emissions regulations.
You would be better off finding a red 202 |

Thanks Jim. Yes... the cost of fitting an efi seems to go on and on! May look at a 202 black, or just enjoy my 186! Thanks for the info mate.

i spent good dollars building a hot 186 for my LJ years ago. at the last minute before i got the head done. i picked up a 12 port black 202 head with injection. i layed the head gasket down on the block marked out the extra water jackets and drilled the 1
