Guys
Looking for some info.
Just found more evidence on the weekend that the standard LJ XU-1 gearbox with the 899 cluster is coded as an M20. My mates 1973 Bathurst XU-1 has XU1 under the ENG code, blank in the TRANS code and G95 in the RRAXLE area. This means that as the XU-1 is just an optioned GTR that it ran the standard box for an LJ GTR ie M20. I know it's got different ratios, but it's still regarded as an M20. This also backs up other GMH documentation.
What I'm looking for is to see if anyone has seen a genuine XU-1 with M21 on the BODY plate. I'm just trying to determine if Holden referred to either of the optional XU-1 boxes as M21 ie the box with the 497 M21 cluster, or the other with the 484 (L34) cluster. I doubt many of these cars exist but you never know.
Also, does an L34 coded LH SLR5000 have M21 under the TRANS area of the BODY plate? Or more importantly has anyone got an L34 build sheet showing the option code for the L34 gearbox?
I also wonder what Holden called the homologated box for the L34 that had the XU-1 M20 ratio set. This box was an M20 with an XU-1 899 cluster and an M21 V8 input shaft. What a crossbreed!
