Hi all,
Just wondering what economy people tend to get from their VT on city cycle. Ours runs great but tend to really chew fuel around town, it nots driven 'grandpa style' but we don't floor it at every set of lights either. Are there any simple checks on the car I could do to try and help economy. It is due for a service but has only just reached it's service schedule on the odometer.

Hi Guys.
Ive found that a VT V6 driven normally will return 13 to 15 L/100km in city traffic. If you drive grandpa style you can get it down to 12 or less.
mpg is a bit difficult to calculate when the speedo reads km & petrol is sold in litres.

My VT V6 gets between 7.3-8.1 L/100 on constant highway (melb-bathurst)trips with camping for 1 person and around 11-12 around town.
It annoys me that buzz box owners and media have a go at the BIG aussie sixes being thirsty....Try towing anything with a

Yeah Mario, and lets see what fuel economy you get out of a buzz box towing with 5 adults, and not to mention the oil consumed,lol

Its not that hard to calculate,eg:you did 247klm used 34.12 lt- 34.12 divided by 4.55= 7.49, 247 divided by 7.49= 32.9 divided by 1.61 = 20.5mpg.
I like comparing it to 60`s and 70`s cars figures.
which I might add the VT does pretty good for fuel econo

Yes, that is correct, but you've done 3 separate calculations. To get L/100 km you only need to do one.
If you use 34.12 litres to do 247 km, you simply divide 34.12 by 2.47 = 13.81 L/100 km.
The logic is also better, if you use less f |

some lights on the fan switch has dimmed , obviously need relacing , can you advise me on how I can get to area to relace bulbs

If you have petrol smells & cannot locate them, get a pro to take a look. Leaking injectors on a VT are not likely, but are 1 of many possibilities.
