It could also be a 1983 (late VH?) block depending on the engine number prefix, you cant rely on the cast date alone.

Byron, you were almost spot on with the month for the engine # , you said july/aug ,so being sept is pretty close mate cheers.

I think he may have actually been spot on.

H = 8th letter = 8th month = August.

Must have been a typo (either that or I don't know my alphabet) -)
