Was thanked: 5 time(s) in 5 post(s)

I've got an 85 model , 5 speed manual Gemi. It has always crunched on the change from 4th back to 3rd.
A friend suggested trying Redline Shockproof gear oil. I drained the old oil and put the Redline in. Pricey at around $30 a litre.
For anyones info it completely solved my problem. I wouldn't have believed it had i not done it myself. Shifts are all smooth and NO crunch anymore on downshifts.
Reccomended.

Similar experience with Castrol Syntrans synthetic transmission oil.
Didn't believe it either, until I actually used it. Magic stuff.

Tried several conventional oils which made no improvement at all.

Redline had some good tech info on their website
