Just a query for a friend regarding his engine.
He has owned this engine for years,a 308 tri-pattern.
His dad worked at f/bend for 20 odd years and he also has 20 years coming up.
Someone mentioned it was possibly an A9X block
Cast date...18B7
Eng # HT 68***
There is a strange hole between the lifter bores.I think it was between cylinder # 5 and 7....or between the lifter bores of #7.
I can't say i've noticed this hole before in other holden V8's (i will check my pre pollution engine on the stand).
Been to some torana sites and waiting on answers.
More a curiosity thing as he rebuilt it as a 330 stroker years ago for his speed boat but it still sits wrapped up in plastic to this day.
Cheers....mario

A HT prefix means it's from an LH, and it is a stock 308.
The L34 & A9X blocks wore different prefixes (one is HZ, can't remember the other).

Cheers,

Mick

Ht simply means LH or LX 308. Basically from an SLR5000 or an SS with L31 option, including A9X optioned examples but NOT including L34. This one is from a February or March 1977 LX which rules out an A9X.
