Just got myself a cheap hq V8 ute but the trispastic won`t change into 3rd until about 75-80 k`s under light throttle.I`m not too familiar with auto`s so i`d appreciate any help on how to fix it,if i can myself???

Check vacuum line to box is connected at both ends and is not leaking. Otherwise its probably the modulater

i had the same problem with all my gears, took ages to change into any gear, was a split vac hose, only a really small leak but caused alot of grief

Just upgraded my 202 HQ to a 253 with V8 Trimatic last weekend and seem to be having the same prob, however, like yourself I don't have much knowledge of the auto-trans so I am taking it to the shop to be fixed tommorrow, if I get any info regarding this
