This would be a very expensive part to make I will do some more research, How many HQ gts are out there anyone know

you have to keep in mind the HQ dash was standard on the GTS, HQ SS, Sandman & Statesman (has wood grain overlay) & a option for the rest, so there is always going to be a demand for these facias, there are still plenty of HQs getting around & even more tucked away in sheds/ being restored.

HQ GTS DASH FACIA if it could be done for around the 200-250 mark.

Its not the amount there were that counts its people like me who have cut extra holes for extra gauges eg factory Temp and oil so I can have factory rev etc. IVe cut the extra holes but if you look close its got a part missing that surrounds the gauges.

The same mold could be used to repro prem and also standard dashes if you choose the wright texture. ??

Im a bit broke at the moment after spending over 5g on it lol.

If its not broke it will be soon

But you must agree to buy one of each at the sample cost which includes tooling, don’t worry I will give you 20% off that should come in at just under $3 million

HQ GTS DASH

With HQ 2 and 4 door Monaros and the 2800 HQ SSs the production numbers would be around the 20,000 mark. I believe total HQ production was around a 1/4 million.

The HQ GTS dash fascia looks as though it would easier to mould than the HJ GTS dash fascia and yet the HJ has been available as repro for many years.

I have 5 HQ GTS dash assemblies under my house and not one has a decent fascia, the last half decent fascia on Ebay went for $285 and it still had two holes that had been drilled in it. You will find that most HQ owners would purchase a good quality repro if one was available.

i purchased a hq gts dash fascia a few years ago and did my homework to reproduce it.unfortunately i did not have 50k plus to put up to do it.the hq gts dash fascia is a lot harder to do than the hj on because of the fish scales and the ghost chroming.i have sold my new fascia recently and it was sold for the purpose of reproduction which i know for a fact is deep into its process.thats about all i can say at the moment.

Hey Les,
I couldnt help myself I had to add these aswell,
The complete 1/4 panels for HK Monaros.
The woodgrain strip for the HK GTS glovebox.
That Metal plate that holds the tacho under the front centre console insert.
Seatbelts and buckles.
Im 100% sure if any new HK GTS monaro parts like these were ever made, those behind it would reap the rewards heavily!!
Thanks for the opportunity to voice our wishes.

The complete 1/4 panels for HK Monaros. (Unlikely but you never know)
The woodgrain strip for the HK GTS glovebox. (I will add it to the list)

Seatbelts and buckles. ( Unable to make due to safety issues)

There is no point in two companies making the HQ dash the market is not big enough, if somebody else is making this dash could you ask them to contact me, otherwise we may go ahead and make the same thing, which is not an ideal situation for either party

Hi Les

I know the problem of low volume production only too well, so I know where youre coming from.

The other problem with reproducing the HQ GTS instrument facia, is which one do you make.

The 71/72 has a shiny (almost chrome) finish to resemble a milled aluminium look. The 73/74 ones had a much duller grey finish to satisfy the newer ADRs. It was still the same moulding with the wrongly called fish scale facing but the milled look is hard enough to recreate let alone worrying about 2 different finishes.

An owner restoring his 73 GTS 350 to the nth degree wont pay good $$ for a 71 facia if he knows it is not correct, whereas the owner of the 71 GTS certainly will. If you only make one, you will have halved your prospective market.

Dr Terry.
