If any one is keen i have come accross a genuine 308 4 speed HJ sandman ,, the story is the bloke was having it restored and sent the motor n box too be rebuilt the mechanic went bust and the drive line was sold at auction ( he is a bit dark considering it was all matching numbered ) whats this thing worth rolling shell completely restored no rust dead straight ,, probably a real good 1 for Byron

what is the tyre placard part no on the glovebox if its still there? what month and year is on the id plates?
i think both myself and byron would be keen to know this.

I saw a HJ Sandman the other day with supposedly the original dash and tyre placard. The number was 9947015.

That seems to be the placard for a post 8/75 HJ Sandman. It appears to be unique to that particular range of HJ Sandmans, and doesn't appear in GMH literature that I can find.

i think you will find the number was 9941015 ??
it only suits the XX7 i believe not the XU3. the post 8/75 xu3 should still use the hq placard i would think.
dont know if the 6cyl post 8/75 had a diferent one. maybe there wasnt a 6cyl post 8/75... |

how did they get away with selling his engine. its not theirs to sell. the guy shouldve reported as stolen by the business owner. to see if it turns up somewhere.

would it be fair to say that if it is built after 9/75, it would be worth more as it would be easier to ID?

easier? ah i dunno if you are saying because of the tyre placard no. mainly because even though the early hj sandmans use the hz tyre placards, they are still unique to the hj also. there is no way you can fit the hq lid to a hj to make it look like a |

No Jason, it is definately 9947015. There is an obvious difference between the 7 and the 1. Whether it was a misprint or not I don't know but it is definately a seven.  I wish I had ha
