Does anyone know if non air con, and factory aircon heater cores are the same? I have a HZ with factory air and the dreaded green fluid down the firewall is happening!! I have a good non aircon core at home, just wondering if it's compatible?

No, the A/Cond & non-A/Cond heater cores are totally different, in size & shape.

The main difference is that the pipes are a different shape. I think the rest is the same. Maybae you can swap the header tank over to a good replacement.

Yes that's what a radiator joint told me too John, anyway they are different, so I'll have to find one of those now!!

They are available new on ebay now and then, also I have one out of a VN, it is very similar, maybe you could get one and get the tanks swapped over. The VN would be a newer one, less chance of leaks.

Don't the VN runs (like most commodores) run a higher pressure cap than the HQ-HZ?
That would be an advantage of having an "over-engineered" VN one if it can be made to fit.

Dunno but if so you would be right. I will dig out the vn and hq ones and do a proper comparison.

VN one is much thicker amnd slightly larger, and the pipes gop in the wrong direction, but I still think its a possibilty with mods.
