any ideas when these started? i have a mid November '78 cast block outta 2/79 car (3 months lag time from block casting to ID tags)
tis ZR 10XXX
has anyone an earlier one than this?

why would they have changed prefixes? ran out of numbers?
If nissan motorsport is nismo, then doesnt that make honda motorsport Homo?

and how far did they go with the new prefix?

Mick, to steal Terrys expression "I know this is being pedantic", the V* series engine prefix kept going until the end of VSIII. Although im not sure if the VSIII V8 engines were all that much later in numerical order as they were supposedly stockpiled du |

Well I can go further....V* prefixes kept going until the end of VY (on the V6 that is) :-)
But yes, I see the point - although I was referring more to the type of motor (Holden EFI V8 - sequential 179/195i/220i) rather than the model itself - as VS3 c |

The 5.7 Gen 3 V8 (VT II to VZ) was also prefixed with a V – it was VF.
