Gday All Can any one tell me the difference between a hi stall converter and a more stall converter, Just wandering how each works, it was suggested to me to go a more stall because i was unsure of the cam i was running any info would be great. Cheers.

stall is the engine speed at which the convertor fully engages. this depends on the best torque speed for your camshaft. for instance a cam that comes on best at 2400 needs a convertor of around 2200-2500, a performance cam, while a cam that comes on at a Edited by user Saturday, 2 February 2008 9:32:47 AM(UTC)

Im running a manual at the moment but soon to change it out with a turbo 400, as i am unsure what cam is in it, I was wandering what the best way to go is?

You REALLY REALLY NEED to know what cam is in the engine at the moment before you can decide what converter you need. Also what diff ratio do you have ??? That is almost as important..
If you have no idea what cam is in the car, then try and have a gue

The motor has a very lumpy cam, and rocks a fair bit while idling. The motor was built for a VH Touring car if i rembmber rightly, but never got raced. The diff has 3.08 gears, i hope this helps. Draging off fords sounds good and aim to do a fair bit of

From the feel of it the cam kicks in about 2400-2700

Sounds Interesting..
I guess you haven't found any specs on the cam yet ??
The cam sounds like quite a high rever if it was built for a touring car. It would have been designed for a manual trans for sure. No touring car was ever raced with an auto.
