The boy removed his dizzy competely and I put it in but unsure if its right.

I put engine on TDC firing stroke then put dizzy in and turned key on then turned dizzy till points sparked.

Put cap on and well im not sure if its right. The car was back firing before this was done and now is worse.

We were tryin to fix it by replacing dizzy but the one we got didnt seem to work. So back to the old one

a) Ensure that leads are pointing to the correct cylinders. Especially the sequence and following the direction rotation of the rotor. (Don't laugh - I once managed to fit a Sunbird dizzy cap 180 out. It still ran. The other trick was setting the leads

Easiest way to check which way the dissy rotates especially if it's out of the car is to view the pull rod from the vacuum advance unit as a finger pointing in the direction that the distributor turns.

On a straight 6 engine cylinders 1 & 6 are at t

Sounds like your 180 deg out. Make sure your on TDC on the balancer marker and at the same time you No.1 piston is at TDC and the rockers for that cylinder need to be loose or not in any rocking position. Once this is done you should just play with your t

tanart is right. A V8 will cough back if u are 180 out.

First get ur points close to being right. Rotate donk so #1 is on the compression stroke. Move balancer to timing mark. Put in the dizzy so that the rotor points close to the #1 turret in the dizz
