hi, i don't post on the ford forum much, but i need to know how much power a toploader can handle.
It's going behind a turbo six (420hp) which i'm confident it will handle, but after the six it will go behind a twin turbo V8. around 900hp. I realise it will need a bit of tricking up to handle that much, so is there a big range of parts to suit the toploader that i can use to acheive 900-1000hp? gearsets etc...

Cheers
Alex

G'day,a toploader in good condition should handle your turbo six but it really depends on where in the rev range the engine makes it's peak torque(the higher the better),the diff gearing, the weight of the car and ultimatly the way the car is driven.

toploaders tend to not want to change gears beyond 7000rpm. Your average toppy starts falling apart at around 450hp and 450ish ftlbs of torque when traction is there.
