no i did spell it correct (flop meet) went today thought i'd get a couple of bargins or at the least some decent parts for decent dollars unrestored gts hub caps average condition $250 each & try to haggle all you got was i'd get more on ebay .well why come to a swap meet & tell me that.sorry for being so neg but i used to enjoy going to a swap meet & have that power of the old haggle but gone are those days & they aint coming back Edited by user Monday, 3 March 2008 7:23:30 AM(UTC)

Yep, totally agree with you.. I couldnt even be bothered getting out of bed to go this morning. Ebay has certainly killed the swap meet scene!!

i went to a car show and shine with swap meet a few months back there was 3 stalls and a guy wrecking a XF falcon. |

The Ballarat one was the same overpriced sh!t and e-bay prices if they wont haggle then they can pack the sh!t up and take it home again ,I go without fail every year but for next year i will have to realy think about going, it wasn't worth taking the day |

Some of the Ebay prices are outrageous and the fact people pay that money aswell. I am restoring a HG monaro i didnt pay much for it and i know people will pay good money for it which is great for me if i wanna sell it but who are the people buying these |

At Bendigo there were pockets of the same thing, just not as bad. Ebay has certainly killed off a distinct part of it, but not everyone uses ebay - theres still some out there selling stuff for decent prices (albeit a small number of sellers) to keep our |

I dont have time to travel the country going to swap meets, but I have the time to browse Ebay. So I think Ebay is good, but it isnt the main culprit with price hikes - the reason is supply and demand. Ebay isnt responsible for the rise in Aussie Muscle c |

Another thing to consider is the price of scrap steel, a lot places are being cleared out by the scrap trucks, thus reducing supply and increasing the base price of parts. Eg a wreck may be worth $150/ton for scrap, therefore its base price has gone up to |

I was about the 100the person into the flop meet.... but found a 2 gems 3 rd iasle in 5 stalls down...
2 hk monaro wheel arch moulds front left and rear right. $10 each...
a guy tapped me on the shoulder not 10 minutes later and bought them for $50

I went to Ballarat and yes you get tossers buying stuff to sell at a massive profit on ebay. One seller had a butchers tub full of NOS sun visors for $1 each. I wanted a pair with the mirrors and a slider to cover said mirrors. I was beaten by about

If people want to buy stuff and put it on ebay then good luck to them, people have rent and morgages to pay so if they can make an extra dollar why not. If I see some thing cheap at a swap and know its worth a lot more then I will re-sell it thats what

From a sellers veiw, if I had a box of visors and only sold a couple over a few swaps I would think maybe I`ll throw them out to clear the shed, but if someone said I`ll take the lot I`d be quite happy. Its all in the timing ,yes its getting harder to fi

I'm sure there are many many more 'tosser' buyers out there at the swap meets than there is 'tosser' sellers..
I used to go to every swap meet in SA & VIC to sell. But now it's swap meets to buy only (if i go at all). Take the goodies home and bang str
