I just logged on to the shannons website to get the results of the Melbourne Motor show auctions....

http://www.shannons.com....ns/?id=XJD8ZO3FW629A51R

the muscle car rollercoaster ride seems to have begun.... the last two major auctions have seen plenty of big dollar expectations fall well short..... so why is that?

greed? poor marketing? interest rates? my mate reckons its worth ........ share market jitters? not enough buyers?

so why are all the big dollar cars not getting across the line?

Recession fears, sub-prime, interest rates etc. Same reason house prices in less than premium suburbs are dropping.

Not sure about that, people are wiser to the prices now but interest rate rises do hurt, that real nice fully restored LX SS 308 on the last page went for $53,000!! Reserve was something like $20,000 - $30,000. Not a bad result at all..........go you To

In the end the lesser cars will probably be the ones that come back to reality, just like the "mansions" in Sydneys western suburbs, or the 30 year old 3 bedroom in mid range suburbs. That is the immaculate HQ GTS 253 auto, or 202 LS HQ, or SLR5000. The p

Hey basketcasebear, yeah I remember reading somewhere that realestate seems to do a 7-year cycle on average but thats driven by investors and sellers.
I dont think classic cars will follow trends like that because most of us keep them and never sell them

Hey hqgts, good point.
Now theres a book that has the facts in it . . . . The Monaro Facts
That other book is severely lacking facts.
