Put some new struts in the front of the wifes EL on the weekend and it was a bitch of a job. Seemed way harder job than last time I did it....which leads me to wonder, Is there a trick to it that I'm missing? I used spring compressors......

No it's a fairly unpleasant job especially if you overtighten one of the 3 top nuts in the engine bay and snap the stud as they are fairly soft steel. Then you have to do that side all over again.
