Hi All, Is it worth having your car rustproofed or not?I recently purchased a new VZ ute to keep for many years,as usual the dealer tried to flog me everything.The prices they quoted me were unreal,so I declined.Anyway I don't see many rusty commodores around these days so is it worthwhile? Comparing commodores to old holdens in terms of rust is largely accounted for by the paint used. Old holdens tended to be sprayed in acrylic, while commodores (not sure exactly what model it started) were and are sprayed with two-pack. Basically, the acry |

You will find with most new cars these days that they Gal coat the body prior to painting anyway, and like is said they are painted in far better quality paint (which is questionable) but anyway I wouldn't bother.

Hi Guys. I wouldnt bother with aftermarket rustproofing these days. You cant compare cars made in the 50s, 60s & 70s with later cars. Guys all that information is great for new cars... what about as a preventative for older cars like my HQ... is it worth it? what about the fish oil etc? or any other suggestions
I am about 3 weeks away from stripping my coupe back baremetal so I can h

Thanks Guys I definately wont bother with it then.The dealer was pushing hard for what they called "Electronic" or something rustproofing.It was going to cost $600!! so I lost interest very quickly.I only knew of the traditional spray on type. Cheers R |

Dont new Holdens come with a 10 year rust perforation warranty anyway?

Hi Dr Terry, what do you think of fish oiling a HK. We will have our Monaro back in around 3 weeks from the beaters and was going to fishh oil the lot. Would I only be wasting my time & money or would it help? Cheers.

hi depends on how long you are going to keep your car for i did my hq 13 years ago no rust i took the door trims off brushed it all over i put half a litre in the sills blocked up the holes in the doors for a week it smelt for about 3 months worked well |
