Can anyone shed some light on the best alternator bracket to suit a (stout) 383 small block chev. I am running a 3 peice chrome steel type with a gilmer kit on a pretty strong engine and its just about ready to rip the bracket and belt from the block on the run in period. The belt is already chewing out due to the miss alingment and flex in the bracket I am running. This is even under a very low belt tension. Keeping in mind i paid in excess of $100 for this set up. What are you using??

Hi stumpy.
The best SBC alternator bracket set-up is the stock 350 style using the longer water pump.
If you have one of those that mount low down using the 2 holes in the block, put it in the bin.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |
