have just found this website, and sounds like many enthusiasts share their knowledge.
have hk monaro (non GTS)with 202 in atm (still runs). have sourced worked 308, turbo 400 gearbox and 10 bolt salsbury diff out of hj wagon . what modifications will i have to tackle. should i get any parts from hj as well (suspension, swaybars)as all are available. hj also has power steering (will this be easily fitted).

308 will fit, but the TH400 is too big without butchering the floorpan and having to make a gearbox crossmember. You are far better off with a TH350 as it will fit in the available space and use a standard powerglide crossmember and tailshaft. The HQ-WB S

I have a HQ salsbury in my HK van. I think its a pretty good fit. Running HQ stockies at the moment. You will need the HJ mounts shaved and hktg style welded on so you can bolt it up.

Did a similar job with a HK sedan- 307 Chev and Turbo 400. Not an easy job, but not impossible. Floorpan will not have to be modified- but the strengthening member will have to be cut out from the trans tunnel. I got around the loss of strength by fabric

thanks for the much needed info. will definitely take the advice on TH350 so no cuttin choppin and swearin. same for the diff. is good to know as it now looks like i will only need the engine. do you know much about genuine stage 5 heads. have been offere

thanks for the vital information on things to tackle. have been advised to go TH350 so no cuttin weldin and swearin. have also been advised to get a different salisbury as is too wide. what are your thoughts. do not want to cut and modify car, want to kee

Never heard of 'genuine' stage 5 heads. I'd save your $ and buy some VN heads, Redline manifold and cam to suit.
