Hi Guys,

Got a question about how to get a proper wheel alignment done for my LX Torana 308 V8. When I bought the car it had already been fitted with HQ-style brakes and the control arms had been modified to A9X specifications (different mounting points I beleive). A heavy duty sway bar is present and the wheels appear to have lots of negative camber. For the first year the car drove great but over time the wheel alignment has drifted out - as is normal. The problem is that since the car is not standard anymore, how on earth do you go about getting a proper wheel alignment done if you don't know what the correct specs would now be for the modified front end. I've had drama's in the past with other cars when I've taken them to standard tyre fitting places (or even suspension places) as they seem to just set the wheel alignment to the "standard" specs in their machine for a factory front end - not taking into account the modifications to the front end which is now non-standard. If anybody can make a suggestion about this I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

It's a matter of finding a place that has good working knowledge of modified suspensions. I had a HJ with a lot of work done to get it handling better (in retrospect I should have fitted a HZ 3/4 chassis and been done with it, but that's another story).

Thanks for that suggestion Peter. I'm in the Western Suburbs of Sydney, but will travel if necessary for the right place.

please observe that HQ to HZ-WB kingswoods have a different king pin inclination to the LH to LX-UC toranas the only reason they were fitted to the toranas (A9X) from the kingswood series is due to the fact that they were a race car and need a lot of nega

Try a local motor sports club Paul.
...or if you know anyone with an HQ racer.
These people often know someone who will align your wheels/suspension according to the mods done, and for your particular driving needs.
We're a bit lucky here in Nthn Tasma

Agree with ^^^, go to a proper suspension/alignment place who know what they are doing.

Paul, you mentioned your wheel alignment 'drifts out - as is normal'. It is not normal in a Torana unless the car gets a very hard time & things are given a

I did the same mod to my LX. I used UC lower control arms and UC solidly mounted rack. The only difference with the lower arms is the different steering stops if I remember correctly. I also used UC upper control arms. These are the ones with the set back
