hi, the carb f1oods 1ike crazy on my 308, AC mecanica1 pump

it's fair1y new, took the bow1s off, new gaskets, f1oats ok,need1es and seats ok, jets ok, new power va1ve, new carb rea11y

i'm just about to buy a recoed quadrajet

any suggestions before i she11 400 do11ars?

Yes, my suggestion is to bury the Holley very deep in its grave, so nobody else gets caught.

what sort of cam you running on 308? how is your idle set? One thing that used to really mess me up was that opening the primaries for idle used to expose transfer slot. close up primaries a little and crack secondaries slightly may help

Mate I had the same problem with the Holley so I opted for the Quadie and never looked back they are a far better carb and much more economical check out the ones on ebay full reco and a good price.

I had a 650 double pumper on a 308 same prob, changed to a quad and it went like a rocket.

The carb is to big for the engine. Look at holleys web site and it shows a calculation for volume effincincy x what sort of engine it is x rpm max that kind of thing and it tells you what size carb you should have
