I would like to make me 253 run on straight gas what kind of dollars are we looking at to make it a goer.

Depends on the system you want. How much do you have to spend??
Last year I converted my HZ 308 to straight gas. Impco 400 mixer cost me $400, plus extras. If you need the whole system the price goes up a fair bit and it has to be plumbed professionally.
