Hi all I'm after some advice here. I've got a 308 red motor with big valve L34 size heads, mild waggott cam, 600 holley vacuum seconday, elec dissy, extractors and edelbrock torker inlet manifold. I have come to the conclusion that I don't really need an engine that comes on around 3000 rpm so I would like to go back to a motor with lots of low down torque and smoothness. Question is can I get away with just chaning the cam and the jets in the holley? or will I need to change the inlet manifold to a standard Holden 4 barrel one or dual plane edelbrock performer or similar? Ideally I'm chasing at least 450 NM low in the rev range, sort of how the engine was intended to produce its power. Is it possible?
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Trent.

increased compression and an off the shelf largish crane cam should do the trick. somewhere in the vicinity of 284 if you are not doing any headwork. The edelbrock torker is a single plane manifold, a dual plane (such as the performer) will give you more

Turfing the Torker is probably the best thing to do, and go back to a pre pollution red manifold if that is what your heads are or if not a Performer, plus a Quadrajet. The heads and cam will lose you some low rev torque but probably not worth chasing ini |
