im looking for some info on my car, is a november 83 vh commodore ss, alabaster white with the vinyl and cloth trim, i cant tell if its a hdt ss or just a gmh ss.
things that confuse me are the decals on the guards just say "ss" theres no group 1, 2, or 3 under them and no brock signature, also the dash just says "commodore ss", the car has a fibreglass flare kit (gpa)
however theres some drill marks under the firewall where a hdt tag would go but there is no tag there, the car has been stolen before i think (no original motor/box)
numbers follow:
model: vh8k69-xv2 (xv2 = ss)
body: 111910-a (a = adelaide built)
trim: 1991-79t (Dark claret vinyl with cloth inserts)
paint: 1j032-d (alabaster white)
build: nov 83
body: cvh054285a
thats all i know, any help is appreciated.

From the looks of it, it's a regular SS (not a HDT Group 1, 2 or 3).
The numbers are spot on for an SS.
About 1/4 of all VH SSs made actually went to HDT and became a Group 1, 2 or 3.
I looked for the tag number in 'the bible' of build numbers, and c |
