K = LUXURY LEVEL. this is the code you need to look for? ask a holden dealer.
? NUMBER. BODY STYLE
? NUMBER. RESTRAINT CODE
A = 6 CYL, F = V8. and it's a v8?
O = SECURITY CODE
1 = 2001 MODEL YEAR CODE

There's no way to tell an SS from the VIN number unless you put it into the PC at a Holden dealer.
You need to look under the bonnet, on the body plate.
On that plate is a line that says "Model"
It will read along the lines of VX8VK69-xxx
The xxx is |
