Hi All,
Just browsing ebay, and saw a June/1984 WB ute for sale, with the model code WB8WN80-V7Y. I've never seen a suffix on any WB Commercial before. Does anyone have any idea of what this V7Y may mean? Also were there any other suffixs like this used on the WBs (apart from the Series II Statesmans)

Ive known this car for years. Tried to but it a while back. Its one of the best ive ever seen. Only problem from memory is a hole in the drivers side quarter panel rubber strip to put a bolt through. I wanted it to change to an injected 308.

V7Y denoted NSW Emissions on VK commodores.
Was it an '84 WB??

Mick, yep 1984. Ive seen other 84 NSW utes that dont have the V7Y in the model code - but they were factory V8s. Maybe the emission controls were only changed on the sixes.

It definitely would be a great base for an injected 5.0L. If it was a factory V

Rhys, the VKs followed that too - only the 6s had the NSW emissions requirements (which is why the stamping isnt all that common). In the VK service manual it shows the 2 different vacuum hose layouts for the NSW vs rest of Oz.
The V8s were left alone.
Cheers,

Mick

I think you're on the money there Byron. If it was a V8, I'd say $15k, but only being a six, $12k max.

Interesting about the NSW emmission laws Mick, do NSW still have higher requirements to the other states?

Yes they did. Even in HJ commericals (without ADR27) you have to still have a carbon canister (I know it's not part of ADR27) to the letter of the law.
