I am trying to decide which car to buy and would like some pro and cons with owning either car. Irrespective of price and fuel costs, which would be a good weekend / club cruise car. Here are the 2 cars I'm considering. http://carpoint.com.au/u...20Wales/csn5426117.aspx

I love both of them...and what a bummer to be in your position :)
If I was spending that money on a Monaro I would be hoping for factory V8 or GTS...and along a similar line with the Trans-AM...I would be wanting the 455...even though I beleive the Tra

A 400 can be stroked to 455 with factory spec (aftermarket) parts, my BIL did this in his 68 Firebird that had a 400 in it.

cons of a trans am is that they wont be going up in value any time soon ,they were mass produced and are quite common (like mustangs). Pro`s they look nice and can have a big thirsty motor . Cons of a monaro- not to everyones taste . pro`s- still going

I would take the pontiac just to be different. There will always be parts available and you wont need to sell a kidney to get a genuine glovebox lid or some such.

Hi James. I can see why the trans is only $13,000 its a lovely right hand drive vehicle but it doesnt look to be in as good a condition as the Monaro and then again $25,000 for an old Holden I think you can do better than that. What it really boils dow

Of the two I like the HQ. I reckon HQ coupes look best in white or yellow, especially with GTS guards single headlight front and red GTS badges, all of which you could easily do to that car. Plus it has tough mechanicals and could easily be converted to E |

I know its my choice in the end but Im after pro and cons of each vehicle. Things like space in the back seat, getting parts, trim durability, driving experience, stuff like that.
I had a HQ 253 Prem over 10 years ago, it was cool to drive but rust kil |

That HQ may be perfect then as it already has a TH400 and 9". A big block will bolt straight in with a new radiator and probably a hole in the bonnet. Plus those 327 strokers with VN heads go really hard so you'd have fun in the meantime.

Hold out for one of the 80 or 81 Trans Am pace cars. Only 7000 made I think. On the downside it was the 4.9 litre turbo

The Q will eb a gorgeously comfortable beast for long hauls. Ours was like a rolling lounge suite compared to modern jappas. In terms of space, we had 5 burly blokes in and cruised comfortably for half a day without getting on each other's wicks. Boo |

I looked at buying this particular Trans Am and in 1995 they were worth $13,000 so their value seems somewhat stagnan |

I own a 79 Camaro, and agree with what oz wreck has said regarding rear seat capacity. As a cruiser - a second gen Trans-Am or Camaro is a top ride, and sits well on the road. A lot of parts are available for the T/A with many interchange parts from the C
