I have a 308 red motor on gas and it started ticking the otherday so i turned her off. I have the rocker covers off and all looked ok. I compression tested and all seemed fine accept for number 7 cylinder. With no spark plug in, there is no ticking noise anymore. But with the compression tester in the plug hole it ticks when turning her over?? I'm not sure what to do.....?

Try the lifter, however if it's really worn on the bottom (scooped out), then the camshaft is on the way out sorry to say. A bugger of a job to replace, lets hope it's just the lifter!
