Hello everyone,
Just wondering if anyone knows anything about the process involved during chrome plating.
While going through an old timers second hand store recently I purchased 30 nice looking 19mm and larger whitworth ring/open enders and open enders at both ends spanners, these will be perfect for brackets and such on our Holden powered Hot Rod project some already have chrome on them from 50 years ago and some are straight steel.
What can I do to assist in the chrome plating process like maybe bead blast all the parts or maybe take the old chrome off, what would be an ideal method of removing the old chrome.
I also want to get some of those stainless steel bolts that have the round head but have the hex head inserts does anyone know what these bolts are called.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
Fred.

Chrome places strip the old chrome off as part of the process, I don't think you can do much to help them, they will still charge the same. Give them a ring anyway and check, that is if you have decided who to go through.
I have new bumper bolts you are

Hey Fred the bolt that i'm thinking of is a "cheese head bolt " with the hex insert, but if you go looking around large industrial areas you often find shops that supply bolts, nuts, screws, in all shapes and sizes and there group of material they are mad
