Will the blue 4.2 inlet manifold (vally cover) fit onto a red 253? or would i need to change the heads as well (will they fit)?

The manifold will bolt up, but the holes in the middle (around the EGR port) don't match.

The better way would be to get a red 308 inlet - it's a 4 barrel & all the holes line up.
The other "right" way around this if you really want to retain the blue

If your 253 has pollution red heads (U shaped EGR ports in the middle) you can only use pollution red valley, which is a dog of a manifold. If you have pre pollution red heads (no EGR ports) then use a pre pollution red manifold (the blue manifold will wo

I had a 308 HX EGR inlet manifold, on HT 308 pre EGR heads. so it can be done. by using epoxy in one place in the manifold. this was done in 1983, and is still working fine.

That does work but as pollution red manifold is a dog you wouldn't bother - (it will bolt straight on with no holes to drill). Blue valley is much different to pollution red and that is what clubby677 was asking about..
