hey yall, whats a ruff idea on how much power a diff takes to just turn?? small car and large?? also ruffly how much to drive the gearbox? say small gearbox? 4 cylinder? thanks already muchly

hey there byron, i dont understand? I think,, are you meaning 10% of the cars power?? each? eg 80hp car, box uses 8hp and diff 8hp? or 160hp,,box 16hp, diff 16hp? thanks though, i have been on this ev forum, and was trying to figure out how much |

I reckon you would lose more power pushing that van through the air....? always be nice to Darth bear....he could delete you at any time...

old mate said his turbo 350 takes 24hp and his trimatic only 7hp

hey thor, i have heard the t350 and t400 take heaps hp, and the 9 inch diff heaps too. i am guessing but every box and diff must take at least 5>10hp just to turn it, and the diffs about the same?? but i am not sure what hp relates to kw? if even a |

The amount of torque required to start a diff turning after o/haul is approx. 12 LB/IN. This is measuring the preload on the bearings, the friction in the gears and the drag on the seal and no other loads. The figure quoted doesnt include axles fitted. A

you tend to lose about 1/3 of your power through the driveline. I had my 148Kw Falcon dyno tuned and they managed to get it's RWKW up to 100. It was a manual so an auto would lose a bit more.
