THE UPPER CONTROL ARM MOUNTING HOLES ON THE A9X TORANA WERE LOWERED TO ALLOW FOR LARGER RIMS. DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHAT THE MEASUREMENT IT WAS LOWERED BY IS? |

It wasnt for larger rims AFAIK. It was to correct for the different KPI created when HQ-WB stubs were used with the UC Torana type upper control arms and LX crossmember. Search the www.gmh-torana.com site, There is photos there showing the difference. |

Hey Byron i remember reading that the a9x stubs were a different part no to the HQ type? I know fitting HQ-WB stubs to LH-UC buggers up the KPI. Does that mean because of the lower mounting points they went HQ type which i would understand...but the dif

Same part number as late HQ-WB one tonner stubs. The difference is simply heat treating from memory. L34 and A9X have holes drilled lower than the standard (for A9X the standard example is UC) to account for the KPI change. AFAIK = As Far As I Know, AFAI |

Just drill upper control arm mounting holes lower.

yes to lower mounting point on XU1, there are 2 sets of holes, the standard and lower lot, most people say an inch but it is less than that, there isnt much metal left around the holes

it all becomes clear,I think the measurement was 5/8 inch. Thats how you could tell an xu-1.This was to classify cars for club racing. For HT you double toe in and just enough camber to feather the inside of tires.Would this improve cornering?

I think I stuffed up above, HT were actually raised during the model now I think of it. I think it was to change the straight line behaviour of the car. This would probably decrease camber slightly and make the car handle worse.

Hi Byron.
The change in early HT alignment specs was to caster, not camber. The camber remained at zero (+ or - 1/2), but the caster went from 1 1/2 negative (+ or - 1/2) to zero (+ or - 1/2). This caster change is what affects straight line behavior. |
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

Just as a quick note, the reason for using the tonner spindles on the L34 and A9X was so that HQ vented discs could be used on the Group C cars.
With the hoppers kits available to put Commodore discs on Toranas why would you need to go to an A9X setup, |
You only have to be in front at the end of the race. |
