Ok the story goes like this, i have a VN injection setup on the VK 308. i got told that i should put a knock sensor on it. Why? whats the advantage of this? where does it go and do i have provision to put one in? Cheers

Knock sensor attaches to the right side of the block, just in front of the engine mount. There is a brass boss that unscrews, and you just screw in the knock sensor. The lead from the knock sensor attaches to B11 terminal on your ECU. I'm not sure in al

Thanks for the info. If it does pretty much nothing then there is no point spending $280 on a bit of plastic and a few wires. Might spend it on something worthwile Cheers

This is something I've been meaning to ask. Do you really *have* to mount the knock sensor on the drivers side? there is a coolant drain plug (that the sensor screws into) on both sides of the block so would it make any difference? I wouldn't have thou

I don't think it matters Dre. My VS calais is a factory HSV enhanced 185i that's never been played with, and it has the knock sensor on the passenger side. The driver's side looks like the bung has never been removed.

Interesting I have a VS111 stato 185kw (holden by design) and the sensors on the right side of the block down near the power steer!

My VR's knock senor lead is a seperate lead within a grey plastic shield, that goes to the ECU. I also have a VT V8 which has the knock sensor lead incorporated in the engine loom. Both vehicles have the knock sensor on the drivers side. I can't see it

The VT had the knock sensor wire in the main loom as they got them fitted as standard (along with roller cam etc).
The VN-VS 5L only got a knock sensor if it was a HSV or HSV enhanced (or done aftermarket).
