hi all, i think i have found the fusable links in my van, 3 of them, i am wondering>> what is a fusable link. what do they do and why do they have them?? and can i change the ones i have,,for readily available holden set?? cheers and thanks already bcb

You should only have one fusable link. Holden anyway. You can go to any auto elect suppliers and buy a lenght of fusable link wire. I have a spare one in the glove box. All I did was have a clip at either end.
Fusible links act as high-current fuses

hey thanks zappa, cause i put a 308 in a 98transit, i think the fusable links are next to the main battery, they are a shiny metal curved wire encased in a plastic cover, in what looks like a large fuse box? each shiny wire has a knob in the middle of |

Dont know what those three wires could be Bear. The link would if blown would kill all power to the hole car, so I dont see much point in there being three. Yes relays can stuff up, they are just switches. The link should be near the starter but who kn

It sounds to me that they are the bigger type of fuse used in late model cars e.g VN commodore headlight fuse.

Terminal 87 or 30 will have power all the time depending on who wired it. Should be 30 When the relay is closed, activated, both should have power

hey casper, the bloke who wired it, was an excellent mechanic, auto elec, and leaves no stone unturned to make things 100% it is a pity he dosent have as good a mean machine as i do!!!
