Gday all. Just joined the forum after viewing offline for some time. About to embark on a car rally in a 71 HQ Statesman next week and have just discovered that the distributor needs replacing. A mate has one from a 350 Chev, can anyone tell me if this can be used in the 253 in the HQ. Don't need this last minute hassle but better off to find out now than later. Car is still running OK but fuel economy and power is down at the moment, and maybe this is the reason? Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks, Langy

Langy,

Not sure if you can reuse it directly, however I would recommend you go with an electronic/point(s)less distributor as you replacement. I just have a Pertronix point replacement unit in a normal distributor and it is much better than standard. H

Thanks for that Scott. Will get onto it today. Time is getting away - rally starts next weekend and have to get from Brissy to Sydney before Friday. Appreciate the reply.
