does any one know why some id tags are stamped from the top and some are pressed from behind at the same production plant.
some cars have a mix of both type of id tag

Mainly Elizabeth BODY tags are stamped down, and as Elizabeth plant produced complete bodies for other plants in some models (eg van and tonner) you get a mixture as these normally got VIN and ADR tags from the assembly plant. Also very early examples of
