Hi, For months I have been tracking as much details I can on my 1973 HQ sedan. I have been trying to determine if she is just a V8 Kingswood or a Kingswood with GTS options. She has some strange additions on her from factory as well, that do not make sense.
I have been told through the grape vine that Byron Rich can help. I know exactly what all the tags mean in holden translation, she indicates a V8 Kingswood, but has interesting additions. i.e. Chrome Sill Covers - premier (factory), 5 seat capacity, rear door courtesy interior light switch, long centre console for a manual (bracket fitting welded from factory), I would say there is more options, that did not come standard. The numbers are:
Vin: 8N69RDJ395388Q - I know it is a Sedan, 253 Hi comp, 1974,Victoria build and HQ.
Model: HQ80469 Body: 395388 M Trim: 1821-39E Chestnut Paint: 568-13134 Glacier White
Eng: --- Trans --- RRaxle --- on this tag, there no stamp information, it was like they forgot to do it! The last tag:
9/73 DHQ 99811M (matches the chassis) seating cap 5
Could anyone with the extensive knowledge on HQ and could tell me what she was at time of sale. It would greatly appreicated! Thank you for your time Allan

Its just a V8 Kingswood sedan, not an XV4 (GTS sedan option on Kingswood). The 39E trim gives it away (this is a Kingswood trim not GTS). Having a blank TRANS location on the BODY plate means it was originally a 3 speed manual. Blank spaces mean standard |

To be GTS trim the code would be 39X, Y. Chrome sill covers could have been put on at anytime or dealer ordered rear door lights switches may also have been ordered, console may have been changed from a short console. Some GMH ex-lease cars had some unusu Edited by user Tuesday, 19 August 2008 2:14:43 AM(UTC)

Hi Guys, Thanks for your rapid response, excellent. I was doing some other research and on another site about trim and whatnot, as this information was the hardest to find. This site claimed that from Sept 1973 to the end of HQ series in 74, Kingswood

Did they make any stock HQ 6 cyc or V8 Kingswood in a 5 seat capacity of the assembly line? Also, if it was a three speed, it would of been a column shift manual...?

The reason that a GTS Sedan has a seperate code to the Kingswood sedan is very simple.
If you had a 80469 sedan in 1974 and went in to buy a new door trim or seat cover, the dealership had to be able to supply the right one off the trim code. As a GTS
