Merry xmas all.. I got taken for a spin around the block in a 1988 Walkinshaw, woo.

Sadly, the GF's LJ torana has started surging/misfiring with the occasional backfire. It only seems to happen under load/accelleration - on the freeway it can handle the speed limit no worries, but stopping/starting, it runs rough and stalled once at an intersection. Its got commodore electronic ignition which was installed years ago.

Any suggestions? 173/traumatic, stock apart from the ignition.

Gets driven daily, its had a fair bit of work done to it recently - transmission kit a few months ago, new disks/pads/etc a few days ago.

The problem has been happening over the past week or two, slowly getting worse. Going to replace the fuel filte

As JohnP says measure your leads. Drain the fuel and any glug out of the carby. Check the rotor and cap (corroded) or is the rotor key/lug loose ? Have the points drifted (lose and bouncing). Replace the fuel filter maybe. Maybe replace the leads.
